The 3 inches of rain that fell on Saturday, October 24th showed the power that water can exert over our man-made attempts at control.
The fifty foot section of pipe laid on Friday was moved askew by the torrent from the rainstorm. What had been set perfectly sloped towards the lake was bent upwards by the force of the water and the gravel and rock filled runoff.
Fortunately, the crew from Landscape Unlimited arrived on Monday morning, noted the setback, and had it corrected within a few hours before moving on to the next stages.
The first photo (top) shows the nice tidy Friday afternoon work. Below photo shows the same site on Sunday morning after the Saturday storm. The water not only washed away the small rocks but also took out some larger rocks and swept it all under the pipe, lifting the end several feet higher that on Friday afternoon.
