Sewer

In 2023, New York City DEP, New York State DEC, and local authorities began exploring a potential sewer system in parts of the Lake Truesdale, Lake Waccabuc, Lake Oscaleta, and Lake Rippowam area. The project was proposed for phase 1 (in red/orange in the maps below) and then a possible phase 2 (including properties in blue in the map below).

As of 2026 the proposal has shifted from a phased sewer system to an enhanced septic system project instead. It would not involve a centralized sewage treatment plant. It would involve improvements to existing septic tanks for individual households. When we get a map of this proposed area we will include it here, but we guess it will include the orange, blue, and pink properties in the second map below (this is speculation – we don’t have a copy of the presentation from June 30, 2026 yet).
