  1. Good writeup – I only disagree with one item – cutting back trees that overhang the lake to control leaves falling into the lake. (This seems like a futile effort – who can stop leaves from falling or blowing into the lake?!)

Cutting down trees is not a good idea in our lake but may be good for their lake which is smaller. Shoreline trees give the shallow water shade which keeps weed growth down and water temps cooler. Both of these are desirable. Trees also stabilize the shoreline and capture soil nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen before they enter the lake.

Upland trees also help stabilize the soil.

More trees are better for the lake!
