The wind was blowing at the start of this race which was originally a repeat of the prior course (Short-North/East). After the wind died down, we shortened the course to North and back. Mark picked up the lead and rounded the North buoy first. After Jack and Skip rounded the buoy, the wind died down, allowing the next 4 sailors to catch up. At the line it was a dramatic finish, with Rob coming from the outside to take second, followed in (what seemed like) 6 inch increments later by Mike Sanchick, and Ira who had all swept past Jack on favorable wind. Jack nudged out Mike Dollar and Skip somehow came across last. The final 6 sailors finished about 20 seconds apart from 2nd-7th so it was a very close race to close the summer series. | |
