There was enough wind to get the sailors down to the start line. After that it was iffy! The first (and only) race of the day should have been a sprint with the very short course chosen. Jack, Mike, and Anthony jumped in front at the start. At the first mark, Mike managed to pass Jack and get the lead. Mike held on through the second mark and reached the finish edging out Jack for first. Jack and Anthony crossed 2nd and 3rd. Ira and Rob missed the big puff of the race and were stranded in the downwind (in name only) leg for 15 minutes. The second race was called off due to failing wind conditions and prior committments which sailors hoped to make it home to attend. Paddles and centerboards were employed to speed the way home since the wind wasnt cooperating at first. A welcome light breeze picked up and sped the sailors into port. Next week well be looking for a full complement of sailors! |
