Race Comments:
The second race was as windy as the first, plus we had attracted a crowd of spectators on sunfish who saw the great wind and wanted in! Jack and Skip were neck-and-neck the whole way around but Jack pulled ahead in the final leg and won by 2 lengths. Ira rounded out the top 3 with Mike Sanchick and Mike Cummings 4th and 5th. Rob lost his grip on the mainsheet on the downwind leg and recovered it by pulling the sail in via the traveller end and snagged the sheet with a gybe tack and some quick hands. In this wind it was an interesting move. Bob suffered some equipment failure as he lost the rudder pin to the depths of Lake Truesdale. He limped in and was rowed/towed home by Rob. The spectators also had some problems including a broken centerboard and a ripped sail. There were numerous capsizes (both racers and spectators) plus a few minor collisions. The rain held off in our area until late night, but I was told of downpours not far away during race time. It was quite a day for sailing!
