Submitted Date:  2005/1/2
Description:
The study attached details the preliminary Dam Study executed in 2002. It contains descriptions, sketches, photographs, and conclusions. The study was performed by Land-Tech Consultants, Inc. (www.landtechconsult.com)

Quote:
The Dam is a 300-foot-long earth embankment with a maximum height of 15 feet that was reportedly constructed in the 1920s. The Dam impounds an 83-acre lake that receives runoff from approximately 2,380 acres. The dam is reportedly owned by the Truesdale Lake Property Owners Association, and the Town has possibly been granted a right of way for the road over the dam. The Dam is registered, # 231-5160, with New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC). Figure 1 shows the lake and its watershed.

Download Now!Truesdale Lake Stormwater Management Project Descriptions Popular Version: 1.0
Submitted Date:  2005/11/30
Description:
This memo is for your use in preparing an application for a financial grant to help pay for drainage improvements around Truesdale Lake. These drainage improvements are intended specifically to reduce the flow of sediment and adsorbed nutrients into the lake.
There are six sites where work is proposed. For each site, we have prepared a brief description of the proposed work, benefit(s) of doing the work, an approximate cost estimate, and an estimate of the amount of time to complete the work.
To the estimated time to compete the work should be added a substantial amount of time to acquire temporary and permanent easements on private property for the initial construction and the subsequent maintenance. Additional time will also be required to obtains permits for the work and to select and engage one or more contractors. For Site #4, it will be prudent to select the contractor first, then revise the plans to accommodate his methods and equipment if necessary. Finally, the work at Sites 1, 3, 5 & 6 is best completed while the lake water level is drawn down for the proposed dam repairs.

Description:
BACKGROUND AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP) is a volunteer lake monitoring program conducted by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the NYS Federation of Lake Associations (FOLA). Founded in 1986 with 25 pilot lakes, the program has involved more than 200 lakes, ponds, and reservoirs and 1000 volunteers from eastern Long Island to the Northern Adirondacks to the western-most lake in New York, and from 10 acre ponds to several Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, Lake George, and lakes within state parks. In this program, lay volunteers trained by the NYSDEC and FOLA collect water samples, observations, and perception data every other week in a fifteen-week interval between May and October. Water samples are analyzed by certified laboratories. Analytical results are interpreted by the NYSDEC and FOLA, and utilized for a variety of purposes by the State of New York, local governments, researchers, and, most importantly, participating lake associations. This report summarizes the 2005 sampling results for Lake Truesdale.

Lake Truesdale is an 83 acre, class B lake found in the Town of Lewisboro in Westchester County, in the Lower Hudson River basin of New York State. Lake Truesdale was first sampled as part of CSLAP in 1999. The following volunteers have participated in CSLAP, and deserve most of the credit for the success of this program at Lake Truesdale: Debbie Fink, Ray Morse, David Robinov,
Tricie Singer, and Gary Struve.
